The government has decided to introduce a new traffic policy as per international standard in the federal capital and according to that driver will have to carry driving licence with him/her and driving without driving licence will be banned.

A senior official said that the decision to this effect was taken in a meeting presided over by Interior Minister Ijaz Shah. Under the policy, Islamabad Traffic Police (ITP) will issue challan to drivers who smoke cigarettes while driving. The traffic police will suspend driving licence on issuance of third challan to a driver, he added.
